Today, Google released the third beta build of Android 13 for Pixel phones. It comes almost a month after the second beta, right on schedule and in line with the company’s previously announced release schedule.
The next step is the final release, which will go out to all Pixels at some point this fall. A beta will be released in July.
Android 13 reaches Platform Stability with Beta 3, an important milestone for app developers since it means all app-facing behaviors and APIs are now final. App developers should begin working on Android 13 compatibility now, knowing that the platform won’t change until the final release.
Android 13 comes with a renewed focus on privacy and security, productivity, and support for tablets and large screens building upon Android 12L’s work. There’s a new notification permission and a revamped photo picker for sharing, themed app icons and per-app language support, as well as HDR video, Bluetooth LE audio, and MIDI 2.0 over USB support.
