Users of Meta products including Instagram and Facebook will be notified of the company’s new privacy policies
Meta claims that the changes were made to help customers understand how their information is used.
Regulators and campaigners have previously criticised the company over its use customer data.
The update does not cover WhatsApp or other products.
Meta claims that the changes will not allow it to “collect use or share data in new ways”.
Two changes can be made to how users can control the processing of their data.
The new setting gives people greater control over who sees their posts default. Existing controls on which ads users can see have been consolidated into one interface.
The company is updating its terms and conditions.
Michel Protti, Meta’s chief privacy Officer, stated in a blog that it wanted to “better explain what is expected of us and those who use the platforms”.
