Industrial Training

LSET offers an optional add-on industry training program to its students. Students wishing to enroll in this program require to pay fee of £2000 to receive training from industry experts at IT companies in the US or UK. This is a month-long program which takes place at the host company’s location. Interested students need to go through an assessment and host company’s interview process to be accepted in the program.

Level 5 Diploma in Computing (with Cyber Security) (accredited by Qualifi, UK) is designed to provide learners with the training and skills they need to succeed in a business-related career. As a result of this program, we hope that learners and centres will be able to gain a number of new skills and qualities that will prove valuable in the future.

   Note: Our Industrial Training and Internship program includes a guaranteed 6 months paid internship (from 10 hours to 40 hours per week) with a technology company. Due to visa restrictions, some international students may not be able to participate in this program.

The Level 5 Diploma in Computing (with Cyber Security) provides individuals with the opportunity to advance their careers within a particular industry or public organisation by gaining analytical knowledge as well as a greater understanding of several core operational domains related to cyber security. Additionally, the course will provide a core information security technical component as well as generic management and leadership training.

In today’s rapidly evolving digital society, it is important to develop the skills necessary to protect and secure data systems against ever-increasing threats.

Combining academic and vocational learning will equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills for many cyber-security jobs.

Following successful completion of this qualification, students can either pursue a career in cyber security or pursue the final year of a degree at one of the many universities that recognise NCC Education qualifications.

A key element of each unit will involve learners using their own equipment to practice using and conducting live exercises on technical IT platforms and apps, including virtual machines, Linux operating systems, as well as working beyond the GUI (Graphical User Interface) and into their own command line.

If a potential student’s first language is not English, they must also reach the English Language requirements of either:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum score of 5.5. Alternatively, take the free NCC Education Higher English Placement Test.

Business IT Project: (Unit 1 core)

In this unit, students will gain practical experience in developing system solutions to open-ended problems derived from the real world.

Information Systems Analysis: (Unit 2 core)

In this unit, students learn a wide range of tools for analysing the function and requirements of information systems, as well as how to compare systems analysis models and analyse them within the context of the Internet as well as the social, economic, and political climate of an organisation.

Network Security Threats and Defence Mechanisms *: (Unit 3 core)

Students will learn how to eliminate or reduce the risks associated with network vulnerabilities and how to protect valuable information held by organisations.

Computer Forensics and Incident Investigation *: (Unit 4 core)

Understanding the requirements for investigating and prosecuting cyber criminals. Students will learn how to acquire, inspect, and report information stored across computer networks related to criminal activity.

Ethical Hacking and Information Security Assessments *: (Unit 5 core)

The concept of ethical hacking and its essential elements, such as information security, threats and attack vectors, hacking and ethical hacking concepts, including risk management.

Professional Issues in IT (1 elective)

As part of this unit, students will be introduced to the professional issues that affect the development, deployment, maintenance, and use of computer systems. This course provides students with an understanding of social, ethical, and legal issues applicable to the IT field as well as a working knowledge of software quality. Students who have completed the L4DC(BM) are recommended to take this unit.

Analysis, Design and Implementation: (2 elective)

The purpose of this course is to provide students with in-depth knowledge, skills, and experience in the use of object-oriented programming techniques for the development of software. In addition, the unit develops expertise in object-oriented analysis, design, coding, and testing.

In this unit, you will learn about the processes, people, practices, and principles of agile development. As a result, it prepares students for future trends in software development and reinforces their understanding of how information systems are developed.

Analysis, Design and Implementation

This unit provides students with an in-depth understanding of object-oriented techniques and their application in the development of software. Students develop their expertise in object-oriented analysis, design, and coding, as well as testing.

Artificial Intelligence

This unit provides an introduction to the fundamental methods used in artificial intelligence, including knowledge representation, reasoning, search, and learning. This unit introduces the underpinning concepts and techniques as well as the problems to which they can be applied and their limitations. This unit will prepare you for entry-level positions in AI application design and development as well as enable you to pursue more advanced topics within this exciting field.

Dynamic Websites

The purpose of this course is to build dynamic websites and to equip students with a range of skills to present content on the World Wide Web, building upon existing knowledge of both databases and web design.

Professional Issues in IT

This unit examines the professional issues associated with the development, deployment, maintenance and use of computer systems. The students will gain an understanding of social, ethical, and legal issues relevant to the IT industry, as well as a working knowledge of software quality assurance.

Project Topic: Online Banking

London has been a leading international financial centre since the 19th century. In recent years, London has seen many FinTech start-ups and significant innovations in the banking sector. This project aims to introduce students to the financial industry and technologies used to handle billions of daily transactions. As part of this project, students will learn the current technological advances and build up their knowledge to start a simple banking application. This application uses agile project management practices to build basic functionality. Students will be presented with user stories to create the initial project backlog. Students need to enhance this backlog by adding more relevant user stories and working on them.

LSET emphasises project-based learning as it allows the students to master the course content by going through near real-world work experience. LSET projects are carefully designed to teach the industry-required skills and mindset.
