Biography

Otavio Santana is an award-winning Software Architect, Technology Strategist, and Open Source Leader specialising in Java, Cloud, NoSQL, software architecture, and high-performance applications.

He is a Java Champion and Oracle ACE Director, and has received the Duke’s Choice Award, Eclipse Top Committer Award, JCP Awards, TDC Rockstar recognition, DZone Featured Expert recognition, and Oracle Groundbreaker recognition.

Since Java 8, Otavio has contributed to the Java ecosystem through the Java Community Process (JCP), including the JCP Executive Committee and JSR Expert Groups. He has also contributed to Apache and Eclipse Foundation projects, including Apache Tamaya, Eclipse MicroProfile, and Jakarta EE.

His work focuses on technology strategy, software architecture, Cloud modernisation, open-source technologies, and engineering leadership. He works with organisations and engineering leaders to design scalable, sustainable, and high-performance software systems.
